Neutering is a great step for your petās health and behavior, but proper care before and after surgery is key to a smooth recovery!
ā° Pre-surgery tip:
No food after 10pm the night before surgery
No water on the morning of the procedure
ā What to look out for after neutering:
Your pet may be sleepy or mildly sore for 24ā48 hours
Keep the surgical area clean and dry - generally, there is no need to clean the wound
Watch for swelling, redness, discharge, or unusual odor around the incision
Prevent vigorous activity or jumping for at least 7ā10 daysĀ
š How to support your petās recovery:
Provide a quiet, comfortable space to rest away from other pets or kids
Use a buster collar or alternative protective device to stop licking (VERY important)
Follow your vetās instructions for pain medication and check-ups
š” If you notice bleeding, excessive swelling, lethargy, vomiting, or worrying signs, contact your vet immediately.Ā
