Canine Infectious Hepatitis is a highly contagious and often fatal viral disease caused by Canine Adenovirus Type 1 (CAVā1) šØ. It mainly damages the liver, kidneys, and blood vessels, and can occur yearāround. Puppies and unvaccinated dogs are at the highest risk.
The virus spreads through urine, saliva, secretions, and contaminated environments and can survive for a long time outside the host. Severe infection can lead to acute liver failure, eye damage, or even sudden death.
The most effective prevention recommended by vets:
ā Keep core vaccinations up to date ā vaccination is the safest and most effective protection against canine infectious hepatitis š
ā Avoid contact with dogs of unknown health status
ā Regularly clean and disinfect living areas, bowls, and toys
Important note:There is no cure for this disease ā only supportive treatment.
Prevention is always better than cure. Vaccination saves lives.
